Until recently wood flooring was very expensive and color and finish selection was limited. Wood flooring was previously installed only in the most utilized rooms in the house, but modern homes use wood floors in all rooms because beautiful natural wood is the best way to showcase your lifestyle. Exotic woods and parquet patterns including prefabricated ornamental inlays are becoming more popular and affordable. We can design and install any wood species, stain, finish and trim you desire.

Wood flooring borders and medallions

Decorative borders, medallions and parquet designs will add an artistic touch to any hardwood floor. Beautiful medallions transform a hardwood floor into a dramatic design element. Whether at an entryway, in the center of a family room or in front of a window – the possibilities are endless.
With a continuous decorative border or pattern running around the edges of a room, creating an “island” in the kitchen or surrounding a dining room table – you’ll be amazed at how interesting even the simplest room can become. We have many different styles of medallions and borders that we are sure we can satisfy even your most creative wish. And if you don’t see what you’re looking for we’ll make it from scratch.

Modern rooms have to be highly functional and wood flooring with proper finish will serve the needs of several generations. And of course it must be beautiful and aesthetically pleasing.

Whether you would like to give your kitchen a new look with some upgrades, or rip it out and start over, we are here to help. We specialize in designs that transform your current kitchen into a beautiful room that showcases your life style. A great way to get started is to write down some ideas, look through magazines and browse some online photo galleries. When you have done some research give us a call. Bring your ideas and work with our experienced design specialists. Together we will come up with a plan to fit your family’s style and needs.

We offer a broad line of high quality wood floor finishes for particular installation and environment.

Janka hardness scale for wood species

The Janka hardness test is a measurement of the force necessary to embed a .444-inch steel ball to half its diameter into the wood. It is the industry standard for gauging the ability of various species to tolerate denting and resist wear, as well as a good indicator of the effort required to either nail or saw each wood species. Please note that this is just a partial list containing some of the most popular choices in wood flooring as well as some of the more exotic species we carry. For a detailed description of a particular species, click on its name to view a wood flooring specification page on that type of wood. Also, see our grade-specific Janka scale for a graphical comparison of the ratings of various types of hardwood flooring.
